About the Book

The Book of Esther: A Story of Love and Favor is a Daily-Bible-Reading Study of the book of Esther. In the book of Esther, Esther was adopted by her cousin Mordecai. In a series of events and with God’s favor Esther was placed in a position to save the Jewish people. Through fasting, prayer and God’s favor she was able to reverse a situation that was placed on God’s people. Esther’s cousin Mordecai told her maybe she had been born for such a time as this. God puts us all in circumstances where he can use us to further His kingdom and give Him glory, if we are willing and obedient. Like Esther you were born for such a time as this.

What People are saying about

The Book of Esther: A Story of Love and Favor

I appreciated the fact that Deborah spread her study over the entire book. Some people would have thought it necessary to avoid the gruesome executions or the terrible battles at the end. I have read studies that simply ignore those truths. Deborah clearly accepts a basic truth: God preserved the whole Bible for us to study and grow. The hard parts are just as important as the easy parts. It is exciting to read about the parties and the fine dress and decorations, but bloody, vicious executions are challenging for twentieth century students. She handles the challenge with grace, and every student will be blessed by the way she covers the entire story.

Deborah gently and simply leads the reader to a thorough understanding of the book of Esther. It is a wonderful story of devotion and self sacrifice, wisdom and courage. Deborah helps the reader to apply this ancient teaching to everyday life in the twenty first century. Each day a different part of the story is expounded and it touches a different issue in the reader’s life. The benefit the reader receives from this book will be determined by the time taken to meditate on the excellent questions after each devotion. Given time, the Holy Spirit will bring fresh revelation to individual hearts.

This e-book is structured with 18 chapters converted into lessons, with its opening chapter setting the scene with King Ahasuerus (Xerxes) sitting at the throne, over a kingdom spanning 127 provinces from India to Cush, abundantly blessed with wealth and the King celebrating it with his nobles, princes, officials and military leaders from Media and Persia. King Xerxes held his celebration for a period of 180 days “displaying” his vast wealth.
Each chapter holds the author’s point of view, including a daily bible scripture, and a prayer of the day.

Deborah H. Bateman is always pointing to the scriptures and giving God the glory, requesting insight for the reader as the reader applies each chapter’s occurrence to their own lives ie.:

Deborah Bateman clearly paints a word picture for us to follow while reading each lesson. I appreciate her digging in and studying the customs of the time that Queen Esther lived in and how harsh some of those were and others were very grand. I like how Deborah has a good eye for observing details of those times and giving us a taste of how good God is behind the scenes. Deborah’s prayers at the end of each lesson are insightful and helpful as well as the questions. The questions bring about spiritual critical thinking which we all need to do. What a blessing “The Book of Esther: A Story of Love and Favor” will be to all who read it!
